For me, as the father of the bride, and for my dear wife, Christa, it has been, as I feel sure you understand, a delightful and unforgetable experience to witness the marriage of our dear daughter, Alexandra, looking so radiant and in love, to a charming and hansome prins Joachim. It has also been for both my wife and me, a danish delight to be made so welcome amist the generous and traditional hospitality of Your country. We feel very much at home here, and for this we thank you all very sincerely.
In our family of daughters, I am offcourse very glad to welcome the support of another male member - [udbredt munterhed] - prince Joachim as son-in-law. Now that these two delightful partners have finally got together, I am pleased to see that the astronomical phonebills have decreased! [Mere munterhed] They say, that absence makes the hart grow fonder - but at WHAT a cost! [Meget munterhed].
More than 400 years ago Martin Luther wrote: "There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship than good marriage". Having been married to my wife Christa for 32 years, I have found this to be an accurate statement. I am sure, that the happy couple will discover, that this is correct for them too. For certain - they both have good role models.
